Cancun airport is one of the airports that move more passengers in the world. Let's see the options transportation from the airport in Cancun to the different destinations How do I get to my destination from the Cancun airport, is there public transportation, what does a taxi cost me?
We live in the area since 2007, we can help you on your trip
CANCUN AIRPORT
El Cancun International Airport welcomes millions of travelers a year, many come on vacation to the Riviera Maya in a vacation package, but others arrive freely and without contracted transportation.
- Cancun International Airport is the second busiest airport in Mexico after CDMX, with a record figure of 2019 million visitors in 25.5.
- The airport is located 13 kilometers from Cancun. We will see the distances to all destinations.
- The airport has 4 terminals. These terminals are connected to each other by free transport.
Let's see what options there are and what are the prices to move around transportation from the airport in Cancun to your target population.
5 TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS FROM CANCÚN AIRPORT
You will see that there are several transportation options from the Cancun airport. Upon arrival you will find different boxes for taxis, transfers and people who offer you services at the airport. Many will ask you where you are going, if they can help you and will try to sell you their service.
If you already have it reserved, they wait for you with a sign and you forget everything else. Now we show you the different options of transportation from the airport in Cancun.
1-TRANSPORTATION BY BUS FROM CANCÚN AIRPORT
From Cancun airport there are buses. The bus company is called ADO (read "adeo"). You can buy the bus ticket at the airport itself or before arriving on the ADO website. There is an ADO ticket booth. The bus stops are at the exit of the terminals. The destinations are:
- Cancun downtown
- Puerto Morelos
- Playa del Carmen
- Overall
- Holbox
- Mérida
Buses DO NOT go to Zona Hotelera from Cancun.

2-COLLECTIVE TRANSFER FROM CANCÚN AIRPORT
There are collective transfers to different destinations. They are vans that transport up to 10 to 12 people. They leave when they have a minimum number of passengers and it is an economical option as well as the ADO bus. You can buy the collective transfer at the airport in boxes and it is also offered by several sellers. The only bummer is that you can wait a while if they don't fill it up.
The price they give you is per person. The comfort compared to the bus is that it drops you off at your hotel. If you go with suitcases and you arrive tired it is a great plus for us.
If you would like to BOOK transfer from the airport of Cancun I recommend this company that offers good services and prices. You will not have surprises, comfortable and safe. Vehicles up to 8 seats.
3-PRIVATE TRANSFER FROM CANCÚN AIRPORT
Obviously it is the fastest because it is a private transport option, where you pay and you do not have to wait for anyone else. For this reason it is also the most expensive. There are private transfers by van or 4-passenger car. If you go in a group of 3 or 4 people, this option is very interesting. Same for large groups.
The price they give you is per unit.
4- RENTAL CAR
Many travelers pick up their rental car at the airport and start their journey. You find different car rental companies in the different terminals. If you already have your reservation, you go to the company and they will accompany you to the car collection module. It is usually located around the airport.
If your option is this, you may be interested in what you need to rent a car in Mexico and our basic tips for driving through the Yucatan Peninsula.
In high seasons such as Easter, Christmas or summer holidays, we advise you to rent your rental car in advance to have the option to choose and get better prices.
Reserve your car at Rentalcars, an agency with different car rental companies to choose your best price
5- TAXI
There are several taxi companies that have service from the airport. It is the most expensive option within the entire range of transportation from Cancun airport. As in most airports, there are concessions with authorized companies within the airport.
Going outside, other “pirate taxi” options await you. These are in theory cheaper. Even the center of Cancun they charge 100 pesos collectively, so you have a reference. The drivers will ask you for a tip on this transport, as many of them live on tips.
¿CAN I GO BY UBER TO THE CANCÚN AIRPORT?
Uber or other private companies are not allowed to pick up tickets at the Cancun airport. There have been many lawsuits in the area with these companies, to date they have banned it.

Very good information, but be careful because the prices are in dollars, then it is not cheap and if very expensive
Hello, the prices I give are in Mexican pesos (mxn), in case there is any doubt.
Regards,
Hello, good evening I travel to Cancun in the next days. You will have current ADO bus prices for downtown Cancun.
Thank you
Hi Ivan, I took the opportunity to update them on our website, you can look on the ADO website yourself, you can also book in advance: https://www.ado.com.mx/ado2/#/
Greetings, good trip.
Hello! I have a problem and I had not considered transportation in advance. What can I do to make it so expensive?
By the way I arrive at dawn.
Hi Carlos,
In the early morning bad business to find something cheap as public transport, there is no service. Or wait for the first bus or share transfer from the airport, that's the cheapest.
Good trip,
Hello Sandra
thanks for the info. I ask you a question, we arrived at the 31 in December at the airport in Cancun and we wanted to take a bus to the beach, but that day it seems to me that it does not work, maybe we have to go to the terminal in the center of Cancun. We are with a baby, and it is a bit cumbersome to make a lot of movement, I thank you in advance!
frameworks
Hello Marcos, I find it strange that services do not work on 31 day, here nothing stops. What I am going to do is ask directly in the ADO, in private transport you will surely find services. I'm out of Cancun, back in a week, give me that margin to get you the information (give me a touch if it happens to me). I imagine that you do not arrive at a time like the 12 of the night or so ...
I ask you, greetings.
Hi Marcos, in ADO I confirm that the 31 service in December between the airport and Playa del Carmen runs from 7 to 23 hours, the cost is 156 pesos per person, buses leave approximately every hour. Regards,
Hello! I arrive at the Cancun airport and I stay at a hostel for the zona hotelera. What bus does it take? who much does it cost? What is the most economical means of transportation? Thank you
Hello Priscila,
From the airport to Cancun there is a bus that leaves you at the terminal in downtown Cancun, by 64 mxn. From here you must take a bus from the 1 or 2 Route, the ones that go towards Zona Hotelera, for 12 pesos. The stops of these buses are 15 minutes walk from the terminal to which you arrive. If you do not want to walk to the 1 or 2 Route stops, you can go collectively for 8 pesos, grab it on Tulum Avenue. If you do not want to complicate 25 so much on the street, not stop, a taxi takes you to the bus stop zona hotelera. And a taxi from the bus terminal to your hostel zona hotelera It should cost you between 100 and 300 pesos, depending on how high it is located. The rates may not be exact, but they go there.
Good trip,
Hello I would like to know what are the schedules and prices to go from the Cancun airport to Majahual?
I arrived in Cancun at the 6: 15am. What are my options?
Thank you
Hi Azucena, from the airport you will have to go to the bus terminal in Cancun. There are three daily departures from Cancun to Mahahaual, to the 6: 45, 16: 30 and 22: 15, price on 400 pesos, I give you the ADO link because there are discounts: https://www.ado.com.mx/ado2/#/ To the one of the 6: 45 you do not arrive in time.
Greetings, good trip!
Hello Sandra, your information is very timely, I appreciate the best option to move from Cancun airport to Clipper hotel, we are 8 people. what route should we take, if there are stops with their respective names, as much information as possible I thank you.
Hello Maribel, you have two options until the Clipper. Collective taxi from the airport to the hotel, maybe it's worth it for the amount of people you are. Cost about 160 mxn per person. The other ADO bus from the airport to the Cancun terminal (64 pesos per person) plus the two taxis that you must take from there to the hotel (they would leave you at 150 pesos each taxi unit) or ask where to take the 1 bus from there to the hotel (12 pesos per person). The bus driver helps you with the hotel stop, they are used to ask you.
Have a happy holiday!
Hello Sandra,
I really liked your post, next Wednesday I travel to Cancun with my family, and I will stay at the hotel Hacienda Cancún downtown, I understand that there is an ADO station nearby, could I use an airport bus to that terminal? I also wanted to ask you if it works uber in Cancun and finally and if it is not too much trouble I would like you to recommend me where to buy the tours at the best price. Since we are going with little money.
I appreciate your attention.
Happy day!
Hello Juan, I am delighted to be able to help you. As you say, your hotel is very close to the ADO terminal. It is best to go by bus from the airport to the last stop. Unfortunately Uber is working right now but not from the airport, where they are not allowed to operate and there are many fights. From agencies I can not recommend a specific one in Cancun, but from your hotel and in that area there are several. More or less all handle similar prices.
I wish you very good holidays, good way!
good night, I will travel the 27 and wanted to know what is the most economical option to go from the airport to the group hotel vidanta? the hotel is in happening playa del carmen. I would greatly appreciate the information.
Hi Sergio, the Hotel Vidanta Riviera Maya is between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen. If it is about this hotel, the cheapest option from the airport would be to take the ADO to Puerto Morelos, here you get off. And from Puerto Morelos a bus that stops you in front of the Vidanta (the ADO buses make fixed stops, the buses leave you where you ask to stop).
Greetings Sergio, if it is not this hotel, send me the exact name of your hotel.
Could you tell me if you know a taxi company that can hire via internet and that I pass to look for the airport of Cancun and move to the zona hotelera., is for a weekday at noon and we are 2 people. In that it is cheaper than hiring the taxi inside the airport
Thank you
Hello Daniel, the only taxi companies that allow you to operate from the airport can be found at the arrival terminal, I think they do not make cheaper prices via internet. Uber so far do not let you operate at the airport. At the exit you always find pirate taxis that make a better price, you can try this option.
Greetings and good trip,
Good afternoon I want to arrive from the airport to the hotel. I bought 11 am -hotel available after 3pm I would like to use a bus that recommends me since we are 6 people and the private transportation is expensive, besides a good place in Cancun for the first lunch
Hello Oscar, the bus leaves the ADO airport that leaves you at the terminal in downtown Cancun, by 64 mxn. From here you should ask to take a bus of the 1 or 2 Route, those that go towards Zona Hotelera, for 12 pesos each person. The bus driver helps you with the hotel stop, yours is at km 20, at the end of zona hotelera. For rich breakfast in Cancun, you are close to the terminal of the ADO, the Plaza de las Palapas, where you will find several places to have breakfast like Los Alcatraces.
Happy Holidays!
Hello, thanks for all the info!
Could you please tell me where I can stay for only one night (no matter how modest the hotel is) near the airport to travel the next day very early. That the hotel-airport transportation be as direct as possible please.
Hi Andrea, I think your best option would be to sleep near the ADO bus terminal in Cancún, from where the transport leaves for the airport. In this area there are many hostels and cheap hotels where a lot of backpacking goes. The area around the Plaza de las Palapas has several options, you will have no problem. There are hotels closer to the airport, but transportation does not make intermediate stops.
Regards,
Hello Sandra! How well you help the travelers and facilitate us as we move there. I had a question. Theoretically the ADO company is the most economical, right? It is not the only blog we have seen that is advised. But when it comes to buying tickets online we get much more expensive. For example, I and my partner travel from the airport to Tulum, and the tickets go to 240 $ per person and one way. We are undecided because if alfinal is that price, we prefer to hire a transport company, since it is cheaper.
If you could provide us with some information, we would really appreciate it!
We travel this Friday 7.
Thank you!
Hi Ana, a pleasure to help travelers like you, very kind for your words 🙂
ADO is the cheapest way to find transport between Tulum and Airport, it is not the normal price of the ticket, since the airport is more expensive. The most economical option would be to go to Cancun to the terminal, and from there grab collectively to Tulum (you must grab two combis, make change in Playa del Carmen) or the ADO Cancun-Tulum, which have prices starting at 90 pesos. Overall, I think that for a few pesos and to save time, the best option is still the Tulum-airport option.
I do not know of another collective transport that has it cheaper from the airport, if there is, you tell me because we are sure to help others.
Buying ADO online ticket in advance usually gives advantages, but the price of the airport ticket does not have advantages or offers online.
I hope it serves you. Have an excellent trip,
Sandra good day, thank you very much for so many harvests. I travel with 7 more people, who advise me, rent a car to travel to the pyramids or pay for the tour from the hotel?
I would like to know if you can get the cheapest tickets to COCO BONGO?
Thank you
Hello Alvaro, being so many insurance it is cheaper to rent a car or a driver with a van. ask what insurance they offer cheaper alternatives to pay all the tour. Sometimes on the Coco Bongo website or some agencies have promotions, but they do not make beast discounts either. By the way, I was just in Coco Bongo last Easter and sold more capacity than they can. We left many almost drowned, the show very poor because there was no space for the amount of people there were. Really, it was to denounce them, I'm talking about the one from Cancún, in case it can help you.
Enjoy the holidays a lot!
Sandra, we are traveling with my sister to Cancun the first days of May, but we stayed in Isla Mujeres, how to get from the airport to puerto jaurez? ADO bus to the terminal and from there combi ??
thank you very much
This is Maria, from the airport to the ADO terminal, and from there, better than the combi (which you should take two), go through the Tulum Av. The R-1 urban bus. Ask the driver if he takes you to the ferry, that there are some who turn before. But a taxi on the street charges 40 pesos to the ferry.
Have an excellent vacation!
Hello Sandra, the 40 taxi pesos are from the Cancun airport to the Juarez port?
Hello Sandra, sorry I have not had internet.
By taxi from the airport are more than 650 pesos to Puerto Juarez. By bus ADO you can go to Cancun for about 65 pesos and then a taxi for 40 pesos to Puerto Juarez
Regards,
Hello Sandra: there is a way to move from the airport directly to the zona hotelera (Hotel Emporio, km 17 Av Kukulcan) by public transport (I mean urban buses) without having to go through the ADO terminal of the center? Or is this route only possible or more recommendable by means of groups, taxis, etc.? Thanks in advance for your comments.
Hello Oscar, what you say is correct. They have it organized like this to earn more money, personally I think there should be public transportation to zona hotelera from the airport, but they do not provide that service.
Happy stay, best regards.
Then sandra means that the cheapest thing is that at the airport we take the ado to the zona hotelera and from there to move in the urban buses?
Yes Leobardo, that's the cheapest thing. If you are 4 people, a taxi can be an option on some journeys.
Warm regards,
Hello, we travel the next 20 to the hotel great oasis, you can recommend me that public transport service serves us since we have quoted particular is too expensive.
Hello Adriana,
From the airport there is a bus that leaves you at the terminal in downtown Cancun, for 64 mxn per person. Near the terminal you must take a bus of the 1 or 2 Route, which goes towards Zona Hotelera, for 12 pesos per person. A taxi from the bus terminal to your hotel should cost you the service between 150 and 250 pesos. The rates may not be exact, but they go there.
Good vacations! 🙂
Sandra then for what I see it comes out better to take taxi since we are 3 right people?
It's cheaper without taxi in your case, according to my numbers: 64 from the bus to Cancun + 12 from the bus to zona hotelera they make 76 pesos. The 64 bus to Cancun + 50 average taxi fares per person = 114 in total. Whatever is more comfortable Adriana, the difference is very little. You can ask the taxi driver price in Cancun and choose how to go.
I hope you serve, greetings?
one last query I am Colombian, it is better to carry Mexican pesos or carry dollars, is that they made me a shared transfer quote and they charge me 198 Mexican pesos per person and 16 dollars per person doing conversion comes out better in pesos that is cheaper, but Well I do not know what you advise me?
Hello Adriana, the queries that are needed.
Really, the Mexican peso is very variable with respect to the dollar these days, I would not know what to do with the best. In zona hotelera They accept both currencies without problem, they even prefer dollars in tourist areas. I'm sorry I'm not more concrete.
Warm regards,
Hello Sandra, how nice to find people like you, I travel to Cancun next July 8 and I would like to know how I can go to Isla Mujeres, I will stay at Hotel Dos Playas, please help me with distances and prices from where I will stay ... I thank you very much for your attention.
Att Diana
Hello Diana, because from your hotel to Isla Mujesres you have it very comfortable and simple, because nearby are the ferries of the zona hotelera that cross to Isla. I leave you a link with the information you need to complete: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/ferry-a-isla-mujeres/
Anything else you can not find tell me.
Best regards, nice stay!
Hello Sandra, cordial greeting, you could help me recommend any company that does the beach tour women that is not very expensive but that offer me the basics.
I grab your attention
Greetings Diana
Good Diana, the most economical tours that travel the Island are made with fishermen's cooperatives that are in Puerto Juarez in the vicinity of the ferry. You cross by boat, they give you a tour of the island, you snorkel and leave time before returning, very complete. A particular agency honestly I do not know how to say, you can ask at your hotel and nearby agencies to see what beats you more.
Best regards island
Good Morning Sandra
I received greetings from Monterrey
I would greatly appreciate your help, I have planned to travel in the month of October With my wife and my two children
What is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Hotel Natura ???
Trying low season do you think this cheaper taxi service at the airport ???
Hello Daniel, I'm glad to help you, but I do not know where to place the Hotel natura, I get several locations with that name. If you give me the exact information of the hotel I'll place it to help you. The taxi services do not make discounts that I know of, or in low season.
Best regards to Monterrey, and I await the data.
Good morning Sandra,
A friend and I travel to Riviera Maya in the next month of October. We will arrive at the Cancun airport at 11 at night, so while we collect suitcases and other calculations on the 23: 30-23: 45 we will be ready to go to our hotel.
I have seen that most transports are no longer available at this time, so I have considered hiring a private transport (either by taxi or through the hotel).
On the other hand, as I have seen that there is a bit of "panic" in the networks about the current security in Cancun and Riviera, I would like to ask you if it is advisable / safe to go at that time in transportation on that road or there is some risk in the transfer and it is preferable to do it in the morning.
Thank you very much for your help.
Greetings,
Emilio.
Hi Emilio, it's a pleasure to help you.
As you say the best option is to go in private at that time, surely you would not be on time for the last bus. Understandable that "panic", but I dare to recommend that you can arrive by private transport without problems at that time to your destination. There are certain standards and respect so far.
Best regards and happy stay,
Hello !!! I travel to Cancun but from the airport I want to go to Tulum, what is the cheapest option?
Hello Grisel, you must take the ADO bus from the airport to Playa del Carmen. From there another to Tulum. It's simple.
Greetings, good trip.
Hello Sandra, good morning, how good to find people like you who help us on our trips, a question I travel to Cancun next week, and I stay at the Hotel Caribe International, I arrive at the 9 at night, which is my best option to get to the hotel, I took the ADO bus and arrived at the terminal of the center and there I took another bus to zona hotelera? thank you very much for your help
Hello Hector, you have to help, of course, happy.
As you say you can take the ADO bus at the airport and from the terminal I recommend you take a taxi. The Caribbean International, I believe is near the terminal of the ADO really, in the Yaxchilan street. Check the location well, the taxi should cost you about 45 pesos at stop.
Greetings, happy stay.
Hi. I'm a little disoriented. I must go from the airport to Puerto Juarez to take the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Here, Sandra, you say that the value of a private taxi is 640 mxn per person to Cancun, but I find some companies that offer me the same trip for that amount but for 4 people, what is it that is slipping away?
Thank you
Hello Juan Manuel,
The private taxi just for you are 640 pesos, if you share it with other people are 160 pesos per person. If you share it you should wait to form a group of 4 to share. Up to Puerto Juarez they take you for a somewhat higher cost, I do not remember the exact one.
These are the official rates of the transportation companies that operate at the airport, weight up, weight down.
I do not know if I have cleared you Juan Manuel doubts. You write me if I can support you in something else.
Regards,
Hello, in December we traveled with my family to Cancun, we are going to stay at Dreams Sands Cancun, 8.5 km. I would like to know about the prices and options, Ado I would leave at the terminal in Cancun. We are 4 adults and two children from 5 and 7 years.
Thank you!
Hello Daniela,
If you go in ADO from the airport to Cancun, from there the hotel is about 10 kilometers away. You must go by taxi which must cost 250 pesos a taxi for 4 people (there are 7 taxis, but they are the least), or bus from ROUTE 1 or 2 to your hotel. Take into account that to go to the ROUTE 1 and 2 bus you must walk about one kilometer, and then about 500 meters to your hotel when getting off the bus. The bus is 12 pesos per person.
Greetings and happy stay, have a great time here.
Thanks Sandra for answering me! And a taxi to 4 from the airport to Dreams Sands, how will it go?
Then we have to go from Cancun to Playa del Carmen to Sandos Playacar, what options do you tell me. Thank you
Hello Daniela, I do not know exactly how to answer the price of the taxi, calculate 800 pesos in total from the airport to Dreams.
For Sandos Playacar the fare is about 900 pesos the journey, official rates. Many taxi drivers, as it seems to be an international standard, sell their service more expensive. The other option is a taxi to the ADO terminal, from there to Playa del Carmen. And from the Playa terminal by taxi to the hotel. This taxi service I do not know what it may cost you, the ADO about 70 pesos per person.
I leave an entry that can help you: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/como-ir-de-cancun-a-playa-del-carmen-y-tulum/
Warm regards,
I love the info of the Blog!
We are a couple that we are going to travel backpacking and we know that we arrived in Cancún near the 1 am.
Is there public transport, or at least more economical than a transfer to move to the Zona Hotelera or to Plaza del Carmen? We have not decided the accommodation for the arrival.
I appreciate any suggestions.
Regards!
Hello Mario, if you arrive at the 1, you have to pay for transfer, there is no option. The best thing to do would be to go to downtown Cancun, through the Plaza de las Palapas (close to the ADO bus station) there are several hostels and hotels. Pity not being able to pass the full info, I am writing about accommodations in Cancun. If you go to zona hotelera the transfer is more expensive
I hope the blog will help you plan your trip.
A hug,

Hello Sandra, I am writing from Argentina
Accustomed to driving in public transport, to lower costs ...
We arrive two people to Cancun Airport, on the 14 hs, which you advise me to get to Puerto Juarez
Thanks for your generous information
Hi Susan,
Take the ADO transport to the Cancun terminal, and from there a taxi leaves you through 40 or 60 pesos on the street. But you must take two combis to Puerto Juarez, each combi 8 weights per person (combis go across the street: one to Crucero, the other from Crucero to Puerto Juarez). I think this taxi is the best taxi in the end.
Puerto Juarez was my neighborhood for more than 3 years 🙂
Have a nice trip, greetings.
Hi, I love the information you provide.
I arrive to Cancun now in December, and once I go to Tulum, I understand that I could go in groups that I think is much cheaper than the ADO buses, do you know if I can take a bus from the airport or where should I take it?
Thank you so much!!
Hello Paulo, from the airport do not leave, you must go to Cancun and from the side of the terminal comes the Playa Express. Look to see by price and time what is best for you. Here you can see prices ADO
And another article that can help you: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/como-ir-de-cancun-a-playa-del-carmen-y-tulum/
I believe that a CUN-Playa ride in ADO is 65 pesos, and in collective 35, to give you a reference.
Greetings Paulo, good trip.
Hello Sandra, first of all you are a genius! Very complete your info, I have assembled my trip with many recommendations of your page.
I wanted to consult you: my idea is the same day I got to go to Valladolid, to go from the airport I should go first to the terminal of the Cancun Center, right? And from there take an ADO for example.
Another question is if you know if there are services from the terminal from downtown Cancun to Izamal, because it would also be interesting to spend the night there.
From already thank you very much!!!
Hello Natalia, I'm glad that the blog serves you, thanks for your words.
It is correct what you say: you must go to the terminal in downtown Cancun and from there to Valladolid, about two hours. Izamal there is no direct. And from Valladolid there is only one bus a day to Izamal, in the morning.
Enjoy the trip a lot, any questions you write me?
Hello Sandra, could you help me with information on how I arrived at the zona hotelera from the international airport of Cancun?
Obvious, in a cheap and safe way please
Hi Sebastian,
From the airport to Cancun there is a bus that leaves you at the terminal in downtown Cancun, by 64 mxn. From here you must take a bus from the 1 or 2 Route, the ones that go towards Zona Hotelera, for 12 pesos. The stops of these buses are 15 minutes walk from the terminal of Cancun. This would be the cheapest.
But shared taxi from the airport, which according to your hotel is zona hotelera you get between 200 pesos or 300 pesos per person.
happy stay 🙂
HELLO I'M A DAYS TO GO TO PUERTO MORELOS AND THE TRUTH IS THAT I'M NOT GOING TO VACATE. I HAVE TO GO TO FIX SOME MATTERS AND PAYMENTS FROM MY HOUSE.
BUT THIS WOULD BE MY FIRST TIME ONLY AND IN TRANSPORTATION FROM THE AIRPORT. THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF FINDING SOMETHING MORE ECONOMIC AS COMBIS PECERAS !! O ADO IS THE ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE AIRPORT, IN ADDITION TO TAXES !!
I WOULD THANK YOU A LOT OF YOUR HELP.
Hello Mariana, there is no more economic, the ADO is the best option for Puerto Morelos. No combis fish tanks.
Maybe they make you a better price by sharing a taxi.
Regards,
Hello good night I wanted to consult: I'm going to Cancun in April and I want to know Playa del Carmen and Tulum as I could do to go there ... from what I read in some commentaries the ADO collectives are very cheap but where would I have to take them from downtown Cancun or the airport?
And I also wanted to know to handle myself by the zona hotelera Are those groups walking? From already thank you very much
Hello Melisa,
The buses or the ADO to Playa you take in the center of Cancun, you will see that it is very simple. I give you the information you need: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/como-ir-de-cancun-a-playa-del-carmen-y-tulum/
By zona hotelera three urban bus routes pass: the 1 route, the 2 route and the 27 route. These buses travel in both directions zona hotelera, they have stops in a row, very easy to move in them.
Have a great time here,
Hello Good evening, you can guide me where it is cheaper to take a taxi from Cancun airport to the crow paradise hotel. the 22 day arrived in May. Thank you
Hello Eduardo, at the airport there are 3 official taxi companies with fixed rates, the rates you have in the article. Another way to take a taxi is with unofficial taxis once you go outside. I imagine that the unofficial ones are more economical. You also have the possibility of private transfer, in the article we give you the option to make the reservation.
Happy stay,
Hello! I would like to know how is the area of Puerto Juarez to stay? I saw a lodging there, but I do not know if it is convenient. Thank you
Hello Eugenia,
Puerto Juarez is very good, quiet (I lived three years there), the only thing that is more isolated. Passes collectives that take you to the center and Route 1, which connects with Zona Hotelera, it also stops in front of the ferry. I leave you a couple of tickets from the place.
https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/puerto-juarez-barrio-de-sabor-a-sal/
https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/playa-ninos-cancun/
I hope you serve, greetings.
Good evening, I would like to know which is better for me to go from the Cancun Airport to the Mayapan Hotel that is by the Zona Hotelera and from the bus station to the Cancun airport. I would like to know those two trips that are better in taxi or bus. Thank you.
Hello Luigi,
It is cheaper to go by public transport, in comfort a transfer or taxi. In public transport it is simple: take the ADO to the bus terminal and from there the 1 Route bus that goes through all the zona hotelera. Back the same to the airport, but the other way round. Transfer you can request it on this same page or when you arrive at the airport. The prices you have on the page for you to decide better.
Greetings and happy holidays.
Hello Sandra I travel to Cancun on Sunday May 20 which is the best option and the cheapest way to get to Playa del Carmen
Hello Jose,
From the airport, there is direct public transportation to Playa del Carmen, that is your best option. You have the schedules and prices in the article.
Warm regards,
Hello Sandra ..
in August I will travel to Cancun ... to get to the hotel calypso that you recommend more economical we are 2 adults and two children ... tmb pra go to playa del carmen tulum and xcaret x my cta. many thanks…
Hello Sonia, the cheapest would be to go by bus ADO, in your case being 4 maybe a private transport you get more or less same price to pay 4 bus tickets from the airport to Cancun and then the bus R1 from the bus terminal until the Calypso.
For Playa and Tulum without doubt the public transport. Xcaret sells tickets with transportation included. I leave you
a couple of articles that can help you. Best regards? Https://www.campaign.ca/campaign-and-tulum/
https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/xcaret-el-gran-parque-tematico/
Hello Sandra:
Good evening. I will travel to Puerto Morelos in September, could you tell me which is the best option to get from Cancun Airport to Puerto Morelos? Thank you
Angelica
Hello Angelica,
There is an ADO bus to Puerto Morelos, you contract it directly at the airport. The prices are in the written, I think per person were a few 120 pesos. According to those who go, a private transfer is cheaper for you, which you can hire through our website as well. Look at the prices, you can come well according to schedules and people.
Warm regards,
Hello Sandra,
Is this information still valid today? I would like to take the ADO from the airport to Puerto Morelos, but on the website I do not get that option; Can I buy my ticket directly at the airport?
Hi Dan, yes it is updated, I spent just a month ago at the airport and we updated. Today the ADO website plays dumb, I don't know if it's not the airport. Yes you can buy your ticket without problem at the airport when you arrive.
Greetings and happy stay,
Hello Sandra, I would like you to help me take the best option on my next trip to Playa del Carmen, I have been told that there are collective combis and I want to know where and how to take it and if it is cheaper than taking an ADO?
Hi Ana, that's right, there are cheaper combis than the ADO between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. These combis can not be taken from the airport, but it is from Cancun or Puerto Morelos, where you go with the airport ADO. I do not know what would be more economical and if it is worth the difference. I pass another ticket with prices so you can see what is best for you: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/como-ir-de-cancun-a-playa-del-carmen-y-tulum/
Enjoy your stay very much,
Hello Sandra:
Good evening, I will visit Cancun in a few months, I will arrive at the airport, how can I get to Hotel Imperial Las Perlas, taking an ADO, getting off at the center and from there to the central bus station and I take a 1 or 2 bus and any of those Take me to my hotel, or do I have to take another bus to get to it, as I recognize the 1 or 2 route truck?
Buses to travel in the zona hotelera They go through all the hotels, or how do you know which one to take?
Thank you very much in advance and I appreciate all your recommendations !!
Hello Viridiana, as you say you go to the last stop, the terminal of the ADO center. On Tulum Avenue (at 1 minute from the terminal) 1 and 2 routes pass, either of them is going well (ask when you get someone from the combis in front of the terminal if you do not locate it). You tell the bus driver that you are going to Imperial Las Perlas, he warns you of your stop. The hotels do not have an exact stop in front of them, but there are continuous stops, which means that you more or less fall near the stop. The Imperial Las Perlas is at the foot of the road.
I hope you clear the doubts happy stay.
Hello good morning Sanda. I think my answer was not published, thank you very much for answering my questions, I just read very bad comments from the imperial hotel, I will not stay there anymore, I'm going to a congress at the great oasis hotel, which you think would be the best hotel option is close to the great oasis, which is clean and cheap, you think it's a good idea to stay in a hotel near the Tulum avenidad, for nothing and take the bus route 1 or 2 and let me in the hotel great oasis, you know some good hote option, thanks for your attention and regards :)!
Hello again Viridiana, a hotel that you have to the route of the 1 or 2 bus route and is very good is the Smart Cancun by Oasis, you have described here: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/dormir-en-cancun-centro/
I do not know any near the Great Economic Oasis, I should entertain myself to look for it. The Calypso, is one of zona hotelera considered economic, close to the Imperial Las Perlas, the only one I can think of to tell you about zona hotelera.
I hope it will help you in your decision.
Regards,
in september I will travel cancun, go to imporio hotel, ask desda artarta you can take bus R1 OR R2 get imporio hotel, is there very close imporio hotel?
Hello Antonio, if you want to go to R1 you must first take the ADO bus to the terminal. From here take the R1 to the Emporium, I do not know if you have a stop right in front, but it sure will be close. The driver of the bus can help you by notifying you of your stop.
Happy Holidays,
Good afternoon Sandra, in these next few days I will be in playa del carmen, and I have a question, I have been told about some collective buses, but I do not know where they go or if I get better to go in ADO, could you help me, thanks.
Hello Ana, that's right, there are combis to move around Riviera Maya, they are faster, they stop where you want and cheaper than the ADO. But they do not arrive at the airport, here only ADO or taxi arrives. I leave the entry with all the information about the combis: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/como-ir-de-cancun-a-playa-del-carmen-y-tulum/ Any other doubt I try to support you.
Enjoy the stay 🙂
Hello Sandra.
I arrive in Cancun at the 3am, I understand that public transport begins to operate between 5 and 6, and I want to take advantage of it to get to Bacalar, what option do you recommend? More economical and simple.
Holo Juan,
Well, arriving at the 3, as you say, I would wait for the first bus to go to Cancun. And from the terminal, take the first bus that goes to Bacalar, which is 7: 10 and costs 420 pesos (it takes 5 hours and 10 minutes). I leave the ADO website so you can look at prices and schedules: https://www.ado.com.mx/#/
Have an excellent trip, good way.
hello good afternoon, I would like a recommendation, I travel to Cancun in January 2019, so I read there is no public transport from the airport to the zona hotelera, I will stay in holiday inn sands, the only option would be to travel to the terminal center right?
another question my itinerary is (three days) WOMEN ISLANDS, PLAYA DELFINES, and what other places do you recommend in Cancun?
From there I want to go to playa del carmen (three days) that you recommend me to do there? I plan to go to xcaret ya tulum, from playa del carmen there are vans that take me to both sides? What else do you recommend doing there and also more than anything on a Sunday afternoon?
Hi, Pablo,
What you say about the transport is correct, you must go in ADO to the center and from there the R-1 bus that goes through Tulum Avenue to your hotel in Zona hotelera. I leave an article with information on how to move on public transport between Cancun and Tulum, sure you find it {useful: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/como-ir-de-cancun-a-playa-del-carmen-y-tulum/

Hello Sandra, I will travel to Cancun and I will be staying in the west coast of Cancun. I want to go to Xcaret and I would like to know if there is public transport that will take me or how to arrive. Thank you very much
Hello Jessica, when you buy the entrance to Xcaret you are given the option of going with transport or without transportation. You can go by public transport, but it is a bit slow and heavy from your hotel, especially when you return late to the show and you have to take a bus to Playa del Carmen and then another to Cancun, and from Cancun to your hotel. For a little more, it is convenient with transportation in your case. I leave the review of Xcaret so you can inform yourself, you can buy your ticket directly on your page, it's easy and simple. https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/xcaret-el-gran-parque-tematico/
Enjoy the holidays a lot 🙂
How can I get to the Royal Park Cancun hotel, without spending much
Hello Carmen, you must go in ADO to the center and from there take the 1 route towards the zona hotelera That leaves you near your hotel. Some 80 pesos the bus to Cancun and 12 pesos the bus to your hotel. The transfers we offer on the web are very well priced, in case you want to look for your comfort. Greetings and good trip,
Hi, Sandra, you know, I arrived in Cancun at the 2 in the early morning. You know how to mobilize at that time to the zona hotelera or that you advise me, or maybe I'm going to the center of Cancun, thanks for looking for help
Hello Deyby, at that time you only find a taxi from the airport. I would go directly to the hotel in your case, between going to the center and from there to zona hotelera you're going to spin around and you'll pretty much come out the same. There must be taxis outside, but hire your transfer from here before: https://www.civitatis.com/es/cancun/traslados?aid=1767
Have a good trip,
Hi Sandra how are you? I have to travel from the airport to Puerto Juarez to take the ferry, what is the closest station to me? I take out the ticket for the central cancun terminal.
Thank you so much,!
Hello Brian, you say the right thing: take the ADO until the last stop, there you get off and look for the R-1 that goes through Tulum Avenue towards Puerto Juarez (ask the driver if they arrive at the ferry, some do not). If you must not take two combis, one until Cruise and from there the combis that leave towards the ferry. It's simple, you'll see.
Good trip, best regards.
Thank you very much for your answer !
When I return from the female islands I want to spend a few days in holbox, is there any ADO that takes me to chiquila from the center of Cancun?
For nothing Brian 🙂 On your way back from Isla Mujeres, you take a combi in front of the direct ferry to the central terminal of the ADO (the usual one). Yes daily buses to Chiquilá-Holbox leave, I leave the information: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/holbox-isla-visitar-excursiones. I recommend asking when you get the timetables to go more quiet, and buy your ticket before, to Holbox they go full sometimes.
Warm regards,
Hello, I travel the 21, this next Friday to Cancun, I will stay in bed and breakfast Cielito Lindo Fire Street 30 ... I see that the station of Ado Terra is alive to 15 min walk there ... can I walk to the hotel, is it safe? Is there an urban truck route that leaves me closer? or another type of transport if we do not want to walk and load?
the next day we want to go to Isla Mujeres, how do we go from the hotel to where we can take transportation to the island, or do I recommend a tour, which is cheaper? Thank you!!
I am taking my husband for the first time, he is a foreigner and I would like him to live the experience of walking in Mexico as well as us Mexicans, in the truck and exploring the normal city, not just the tourist.
regards
Hello Teresa, what do you want to know about your beautiful and dear Mexico? If you take a taxi from the ADO terminal to your hotel it should cost around 50 pesos. As you prefer, I would recommend taking a taxi for convenience, loaded on the street is never highly recommended. About Isla Mujeres I leave you a link that explains the options, if you have any doubts I will gladly try to support you: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/ferry-a-isla-mujeres/
Best regards ?
hello, I travel to Cancun with my husband we are going to stay at the pace I would like to know how we can get from the airport to the hotel thanks.
Hello Jenny, if it is not a taxi or transfer option, you must take the ADO bus to the Cancun terminal. From there I would take a taxi to the hotel (100 pesos maximum), otherwise you should take two buses to All Ritmo, I think that with suitcases is not a good option.
Good trip,
Hello Sandra. And how does one go from Cancun to the airport by public transport? It can?
Hello Erick, you must go to the central bus terminal of Cancún (Av. Tulum with Uxmal) and from there you go to the airport. Look before the schedules: https://www.ado.com.mx/
Regards,
I TRAVEL IN THE FIRST OF MAY AND ON FRIDAY AND MY ARRIVAL IS AT THE 10 PM, I WANT TO TAKE A TRUCK TO ARRIVE TO CHETUMAL, YOU WILL KNOW HOW TO ARRIVE AT THE TRUCK CENTER TO BE ABLE TO ADDRESS A TRUCK AND ARRIVE FROM EARLY CHETUMAL, PLEASE
Hello Renexis, I think that at that time there is only one truck that leaves from the airport. You can go to Cancun or Playa del Carmen (what's best for you), and from there look for a truck that goes to Chetumal. Check the schedules on the official ADO website to see if the time is right for you: https://www.ado.com.mx/
Good trip,
Hello, great pleasure 😀
Thursday June 27 arrived at the airport in Cancun and I want to travel to Playa del Carmen, I consulted on the ADO page about the exits and I do not see any schedule, Sandra. My question is if there at the airport, can I directly buy the tickets? tickets?
First of all, Thanks
Hello Deysi, I'm delighted to help you. No problem you can buy it on arrival (bring cash just in case). I checked the ADO website and they only allow you to buy on that route until May, a few days' test if you can already buy the ones from June. There are two terminals in Playa, choose the Playa del Carmen Turística website.
Have an excellent trip,
Hello good day, I do not know how this works: I'm arriving to Cancun on 10 / 06 / 2019 day at 14.30 hs and I have to move to Sandos Playacar hotel, we are two adults, which transfer me aconcejas, taxi bus, since so I found out the transfer does not suit me?
Hello Enzo, do not worry it's easy, you'll see. You can watch a transfer on this website, per person 440 Mexican pesos leave to your hotel and take an approximate time (in destination you must put Playa del Carmen option) https://www.civitatis.com/es/cancun/traslados?aid=1767
If you take the bus from the airport to Playa del Carmen, there are about 210 Mexican pesos per person, it takes just over an hour. Once from the bus terminal of Playa del Carmen you should take a taxi, I do not know what it would cost you until Sandors.
A taxi from the airport to Playa del Carmen per person is about 350 pesos (once you arrive in Cancún they offer you this service as well).
As you see there are options, choose to your liking. Have a good holiday, good trip.
If it's the bus, at the time I'm arriving there is? I would spend the hours and the time it takes, the prices per person and if they are $ mexi. or are the dollars, thank you very much.
How did I get from Cancun Airport to Alfredo V Bonfil?
From what I see, it's very close, how could I move and get out cheap.
Hello Carlos, the bad thing about the airport bus (which is the cheapest) is that it does not make intermediate stops: then you should arrive at the central terminal and from there take a combi to Bonfil. But ask a taxi what it costs you to Bonfil, I do not know how to price you.
Regards,
Hello Sandra, I hope you are very well.
From the outset, I appreciate all the comments you have made as they serve as a guide for future tourists in Cancun.
Just to confirm what I understood is that from the airport I can take an ADO transport which leaves me in the center of Cancun right near where I will stay and to get to the sea I must take R1 or R2 to the zona hotelera ?
And in order to get to Tulum I must take another ADO or what other means is there to transport me?
You know what price access to Tulum has or how everything is handled there.
Thank you!
Hello Linda, happy to help ?
It is correct what you say about the ADO transport from the airport to the center and from there to the beaches.
For Tulum you can take the ADO, it is more direct and you can go with luggage. The other option is to take a bus to Playa del Carmen, and from there another to Tulum. These buses allow you to stop wherever you want, but they do not accept large luggage. I leave you more info: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/como-ir-de-cancun-a-playa-del-carmen/
I understand that you mean the archaeological zone of Tulum, I leave you information https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/tulum-como-ir-caribe-mexicano-zona-arqueologica/
Any questions you tell me, here you find me.
Good way ??
Hello Sandra.
These days I will travel to the Riviera Maya, we are two people and we will stay at the Generations Riviera Maya Hotel. Could you guide me on the best way to get from the airport to the hotel and vice versa?
Thank you!
Hello Sandra, your hotel is between Puerto Morelos and Punta maroma, the most practical in your case is to take a transfer service or taxi from the airport to the hotel because you have complicated public transport. When you book it you can make a round trip, the transfer we offer on the web is totally reliable. Any questions you tell me. Have a good trip.
Hi Sandra, how are you? Thanks for your support in advance.
I arrive in Cancun on September 19 at 10pm from Lima, I will stay at the Mayan Monkey Cancun hostel and I have been told that it is close to one of the ADO stations. What ticket should I buy on the ADO website?
You tell me
Hi Stehanie, nice to support. That's right, that hostel is very close. From the airport to Cancun is direct, there is only one stop. Hopefully at that time leave the bus. Any questions here we are.
Greetings and good trip.
Good morning, Sandra. Excellent tips on your blog.
I arrive at the Cancun airport and I would like to know what is the least expensive alternative (I have no problem boarding a bus and then an urban bus) to get to the Meliá Paradisus hotel, as I am going to a convention. I saw the map and it seems that I would go around a lot if I arrive at the ADO bus terminal from the airport and from there I go to the zona hotelera. It seems better to leave the airport at zona hotelera, but I don't know if that is possible by the means I plan to use. Thanks in advance.
Hello July, great reading of yours, but as you say, there is no airport bus to zona hotelera, only taxi services are direct there. So the cheapest thing, even if you turn around, is to go to the Cancun ADO headquarters, and from there to the Meliá by urban bus. Anyway, when you arrive, ask for the collective taxis that are waiting outside at the exit, for a collective service until zona hotelera, sometimes the price does not change so much and you save a little time to walk.
I hope you have some time to enjoy the destination, good trip July.
Hello Sandra.
First of all thank you for the advice you give, without a doubt they are very helpful for all of us. Well, my query is about public transportation in the southern polygon area. Our flight arrives at 21:20 p.m. and we are 8 people. I would appreciate it if you could advise me how to get to that area (close to the Walmart in the southern area) in the most economical way. If I take the ADO bus to the center of Cancun, is there public transportation to the south area? and especially at that time (22: 00hrs) or I should take a taxi. Thanks in advance. Regards.
Hi Cristian, I'm glad that our experience is useful to you. In your case, being 8, the most convenient thing is to take a transport all together. Vehicles are 10 people, it suits you for price and comfort. From the transfers that we offer it comes out for about 26 euros, I think it is a good price for everyone. Maybe at the airport you bargain cheaper, I don't know.
Have a good trip, have a good time here
Thanks for the recommendation. You see, our trip is still in April. An idea came up in our group to stay the first night near the ADO terminal in the center of Cancun and the rest of the days in the area that I indicated initially. But now it seems to me that the recommendation you give me is better. Just to clarify, are 26 euros in total or per person?
Greetings.
Hi Cristian, I looked at it quickly about the transfer in the company that we recommend and it was the price for the 8 travelers. 26 euros for the whole vehicle, I think it is a very good price. Any questions you have with pleasure I try to support you.
Have a good vacation 🙂
Hello good afternoon I need your help, soon I will travel with my family to Puerto Morelos (2 adults and a child) I would like you to guide me how I can get to Puerto Morelos in the most economical way since I do not know and I will stay in a house that I rent by Airbnb in Puerto Morelos.
Hello Alma, you basically have two ways:
-From the airport there is public transport ADO to Puerto Morelos. From the stop, depending on where your Airbnb is, you go by taxi or on foot. You can check the prices in the information we give on our page.
-from the airport you can take a private transfer to your lodging: you can still look at the transfer prices on the web and make the comparison.
very good trip,
Hello Sandra,
Thank you very much for your blog, I am getting a lot of information for my next trip to Mexico.
I have searched the ADO page but I can't find or I don't know how to find if there is a direct connection from Cancun Airport to Valladolid. I have written to the ADO customer service, but I don't get a response... Is there such a Path? Or if not, should I take one to Cancun city and then another to Valladolid?
I have the same problem at the Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport (Tuxtla Gutiérrez) to get to San Cristobal de las Casas…
We are a couple, who are going to visit part of Mexico for 20 days, so we are looking for a combination between cheap and fast... so if you think that a Taxi is better, please tell me.
Thank you very much, any help will be welcome!
A hug from Spain
Hi Claudia,
There is a bus that goes from the Cancun airport to Merida, leaving at 17:30 p.m. from the airport. I've tried to find out if it makes a stop in Valladolid and I can't see it either, what a rage, maybe it's not possible. In this case you must go to the central terminal of the ADO in Cancun, and from there to Valladolid (several times a day). In Tuxla there is still ADO to San Cristóbal, but I don't know the schedules. A taxi is about 1000 pesos.
Have an excellent trip guys, any questions we talk here??
Hello Sandra, I hope you are well. I have lived and worked in San Cristobal de las Casas since 2008. Next week I am going to fly to Cancun but only in passing since my flight to Europe departs from there. I plan to stay longer in the region on my return. Considering that my budget is limited at the moment, I wanted to ask you if there are buses around the airport that take me downtown? I still do not have a reservation for a hotel that depends on transportation. I will stay only one night and one day. thank you very much in advance
Hi Monika, glad to help you.
Yes, there are buses to the center, they are the ADO buses, they are the cheapest transport and they leave from each terminal. They leave you at the station in downtown Cancun, and nearby you have several comfortable, clean and cheap hostels. Back to the airport you can still go by ADO transport. I hope it helps you, any doubt with pleasure.
Have a good trip ?
