In the eclectic San Cristóbal de las Casas there is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. If you want to get it right, I recommend El Cau restaurant, a place with flavors that will fill your palate.
I think it is the first one in the blog that I write about a place that I love and it coincides that the owner is an intimate friend, maybe it is for this reason that I have taken so long. You will know that my recommendation is not for the love, although I am happy to talk about Jordi and his El Cau restaurant.
I have known Jordi since our paths met in Barcelona in a black and white laboratory zillion years ago, where we learned and enjoyed the first steps of our passion-profession, Photography. Fate has wanted us to meet again in this beloved Mexico.
He and his beautiful family reside in San Cristóbal de las Casas, One unmissable places of Chiapas. His passion and knowledge of flavors and cuisine inevitably led him to put his restaurant.
Jordi is a type of those generous who enjoy behind the stoves, almost was sung that would end up riding a restaurant, with the illusion that we could all enjoy the flavors of our land. In fact, after having the distributors who supplied you with cheese, sausages, wines and everything you can not imagine getting, the next step was the El Cau restaurant.
Now we can all enjoy a kitchen in San Cristóbal de las Casas as if you were in Barcelona.
The base of the El Cau restaurant are Spanish wines and tapas, accompanied by a menu of dishes that will make you lick your fingers. The wine list is excellent, and they also have very good prices. The drinks accompany them with a tapa, so it is a pleasure to chat quietly in the formidable atmosphere that is breathed in El Cau.
That is the second best thing about El Cau, its friendly and relaxed atmosphere, something that if coupled with good food makes you have a perfect place. You will see that most of them are locals that gather here to have their vinito or chela with their tapas while they talk cheerfully.
Every day there live music for an hour and a half from 20, with soft tones that do not occupy the place and do accompany the conversation well. In addition, the space takes advantage of it for traveling exhibitions by Sancris photographers or artists, there is always an interesting proposal.
La central location of El Cau in the walkway of Real de Guadalupe, one of the busiest streets, makes it an easy place to get to. The tables on the street are a great viewpoint to see the life of San Cristóbal de las Casas. If you go at noon, you can even have a Yzaguirre vermouth, what a joy please. Give yourself away El CauI really think you'll like it.
Jordi reformed and sold El Cau in 2019. It is managed by a French couple who have continued the Cau line, so it certainly will not disappoint you. I hope you enjoy the place

Hello, traveling friend I'm glad you'll like Lanzarote, it's an island with a lot of charm and magic. We have already finished our story of our passage through Yucatan, it has been a great experience and great trip, where we have learned much more about the Mayans.
We read.

Good thing, this Sunday I'll lie down in the shade and read to you. It is very rewarding to see this land with another traveling look.
