Chichen Itza is halfway between Merida (120 kilometers) and Cancun (188 kilometers), in the town of Pisté. The closest large population is Valladolid, which is situated 42 kilometers, about 45 minutes by car.

Basically there are two options, in the town of Pisté or in the surroundings of the area:

  • PISTÉ It is a small town with several accommodation options and restaurants. For those who go by public transport is a good option for transportation convenience and services in the town. The archaeological zone is about 2 kilometers, where you can go by motorcycle taxi, tricitaxi, taxi or walking.
  • SURROUNDINGS CHICHÉN ITZÁ: many tours and tourist circuits arrive in the area. As a consequence, there are many accommodations in and around Chichén. POSADA CASA DE LAS LUNAS: I had a hard time finding a place that would convince me sleep in Pisté, until you know the inn Casa de las Lunas. LOCATION: in Pisté, it is on the road that crosses the town. It goes unnoticed hidden behind a sign on the main street. One does not expect that after the humble entrance there is such a warm and welcoming place. DESCRIPTION OF THE INN: Comfortable and clean rooms with private bathroom, air conditioning and fan. HOTEL CHICHÉN ITZÁ: It is one of the big hotels designed to host tourism circuits, it offers all the services. They are somewhat impersonal but it works out superbly and the staff is friendly. Family friendly ideal for families ALOCATION: It is well located at the entrance to Pisté. HOTEL DESCRIPTION: Comfortable and clean rooms with private bathroom, air conditioning and fan. Flat screen tv with cable. SERVICES: WIFI in the common areas of the hotel, swimming pool, restaurant and gym. Optional breakfast THE BEST: good value for money. PERSONAL OPINION: to go in family with children is great. I was many years ago, it solves perfectly.

MEDIUM-HIGH BUDGET:

MAYALAND HOTEL & BUNGALOWS: one of the two hotels privileged by its proximity to the archaeological zone. The Mayaland company has several hotels with exceptional locations in the Peninsula: you can see Chichén Itzá from the hotel.
