Akumal is one of the most precious towns in the Riviera Maya. His fame is due to one of the Must-see activities in the Mexican Caribbean: swim with the turtles in Akumal Bay. This strip of sea has been gaining followers so they have opened several accommodations in the area, renting houses and apartments as well as hotels. We hope you find your ideal place to enjoy your stay.
Our criteria to recommend accommodation
The accommodations are divided according to budget:
- Economic budget: from 100 to 500 Mexican pesos (mxn).
- Average budget: from 500 to 2,000 mxn.
- High budget: 2,000 mxn onwards.

The hotels that I recommend neither invite me nor pay me to be on this list. I always choose my accommodations according to my criteria, I think it is the most correct way to be able to talk freely about the places and not to advertise for the fact that they pay you or invite you to sleep.
In Akumal there is no economic option in accommodation, as far as we know.
Where to sleep in Akumal:
Akumal It is located 37 km from Playa del Carmen and 26 of Overall. Akumal village is divided into two, one part on the beach side, the other on the inside. There are several entrances to the coast of Akumal, all are signposted on the road: the main one is under the bridge of the federal highway 307. Not all the Akumal coast has a sandy beachThere are rock areas, this will be taken into account when choosing accommodation.
To get to Akumal you must take the bus or your own transport. The collectives pass continuously on the federal highway. From the federal to the town of the beach area there is less than one kilometer, which you can walk.
The hotels usually have parking for your customers, so you will not have problems parking.
The big difference is having direct access to the beach or not, but the beach is very close in Akumal, wherever you are staying. There is a series of Interesting accommodations across the main road, in case you want to take them into account.

Hi Faby, you practically have to pay the same and you have very similar distance. From the zona hotelera of Cancun you must take a bus and a collective, and from Akumal two buses, the difference would be a matter of weight up, weight down. Akumal is somewhat closer, and back to the best you have more opportunity for groups with empty seats, but a taxi to Playa and from there collective to Akumal.

Can we walk to the good areas to see them? bike? Bus? car?. What would be a good organization to contract an activity to interact with the turtles in a respectful / ecological way?
Hello Mery, I see that your hotel is near Akumal, but I do not know the best way to go to the beach of Akumal Bay from there, it is possible that turtles arrive on the beach of the same hotel.
