We present our tips for driving in Chiapas. The state has its own peculiarities, which we are going to see. What roads will you find, is it safe, where to rent a car, what routes to take?
The close knowledge of the destinations is essential to plan your trip. We are going to see the particularities of the state so that you can decide your way of discovering Chiapas. Driving through Chiapas by rental car is one of the options that tourists consider, let's see others.
The highways and the state of Chiapas itself have certain peculiarities that it will be good for you to know before planning to travel through Chiapas.
HOW TO TRAVEL THROUGH CHIAPAS BY ROAD
Chiapas offers interesting alternatives for you to get to know it. The cheap prices you find in Chiapas make several tourist alternatives attractive that you may not have considered. You can travel in:
- PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: as everywhere we can travel Chiapas using the local public transport. It is a very close way of knowing the areas. We have traveled it several times by truck and bus,
- TOURIST TRANSPORTATION: tourist tours are made at a very good price. For example, from San Cristóbal to Palenque the option of tourist transport compared to public transport on your own, comes out better in price and broadens your options.
- RENTING A CAR: this option to rent a car to drive through Chiapas, we are going to take a closer look at it so that you can value it. We have taken this option a couple of times to get to know the area.
- BY PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION WITH A DRIVER / GUIDE: we love this option in Chiapas, because of the comfort it entails and the good prices available. We have traveled Chiapas like this several times, and we know it is worth it.
TIPS FOR DRIVING IN CHIAPAS
Just as I always encourage the traveler to rent a car to tour the Yucatan Peninsula, Chiapas has its own peculiarities. We will see them for you to decide.
If I do not encourage the traveler in general to visit the neighbor Chiapas Rental car is for the following reasons, although more experienced travelers do:
- Being a mountainous area several main roads are difficult by narrow and tortuous, and more in the rainy season, where water falls abundantly and there may be landslides. We must also take into account the strong wind that sometimes hits the Pacific coast, where caution should be exercised under these circumstances.
- Chiapas has more army controls as usual, so if you're not used to it, it gives you the feeling of "dangerous place", especially on the border road with Guatemala, the beautiful road that runs from Palenque to Comitán. The controls and questions are frequent, and seeing so many military is something that collides.
- You can also meet with local checkpoints organized by locals. It is a usual form of protest in this state, where they ask drivers for money for their cause, at other times they cut the road and you have to stray. If you go in tourist collectives, you barely hear about this problem because the driver resolves for you. These road cuts happen especially in the section between Palenque and San Cristóbal de las Casas. Also between Tuxla and San Cristóbal.
Being aware of these difficulties on the road, for me Chiapas is a wonderful state to travel by car, with beautiful roads with landscapes where you can stop to enjoy yourself. Following the tips for driving in Chiapas will provide you with a better trip, we are sure of it.

WHERE TO RENT A CAR IN CHIAPAS
We explain another of the curiosities of Chiapas: The main destination of the state is San Cristóbal de las Casas, the main base of many travelers.
In this city there is no possibility of renting a vehicle, from here tourist transport leaves to all the most tourist destinations in the area: Sumidero Canyon, Palenque, Toniná, Chiflón, Montebello, San Juan Chamula, Zinacantán. Wherever you want to go there is an excursion, and they are usually quite affordable.
- The nearest place to rent a car is in Tuxla Gutiérrez, capital of the state that is located one hour from San Cristóbal de las Casas, or in the Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport, which is located between Tuxla and Chiapa de Corzo. If you don't have to go through Tuxla, rent the car at the airport, as entering Tuxla is a hassle.
- The same thing is going to happen to you in Palenque, where the closest place to rent a car is Villahermosa.
- En Tapachula, border with Guatemala on the Pacific coast, the other international airport of Chiapas is located, where it is also possible to rent a car.
In airports you find agencies for Book your car with Rentalcars
CRUZAR FRONTERA MEXICO GUATEMALA BY CAR
Crossing to Guatemala and Belize from Mexico by rental car is not easy, only some car rental agencies make it easy to do so, one is American Car Rental and another that I know is Price Car Rentals.
By private car it is simple. Read about the pertinent procedures to cross the borders by car.
TYPES OF ROADS IN CHIAPAS
In Chiapas there are two types of highways, of quota and the roads free. Previously we have already commented that the mountainous landscape gives rise to very winding roads, with dizzy curves. Who likes to drive, will enjoy.
Plan your routes well, sometimes a few kilometers are made in several hours.
- TOLL ROAD: (with tolls): there are several pay roads, such as those that link the Pacific coast from Puerto Arista with Tuxla Gutiérrez, and the one from Tuxla to San Cristóbal de las Casas.
- FREE ROADS are the rest, without payment, in good condition. The back roads is where you can find some sections with holes and less help signs on the road.
THE FAMOUS ROADS ON THE ROADS OF MEXICO
The buffers They are used as speed bumps, being located mainly at the entrances and exits of the towns of the secondary roads and in rural areas. It is the effective way to stop the speed of traffic that tends to divide towns on both sides of the road, where children play, people walk and dogs lie down to rest. You must be careful crossing the villages.
What of eat the caps It is common, some are not seen as poorly indicated or positioned, others are so exaggerated that almost the scales, be careful especially with low car. A whole world of buffers.
In many towns, you will find people selling local products, from mango to fish. If you are attentive and respecting the speed limits I do not doubt that you will enjoy going through the small towns of Chiapas.

CAUTION AND HIGHWAY ASSAULTS CHIAPAS
- CAUTION CHIAPAS ROADS: The secondary roads are not illuminated. For the rural areas travel at night People on a bike and on foot returning home, be careful. It is one of the reasons why it is not recommended to drive at night if you do not know the area, the visibility will greatly impede your driving.
In Chiapas it is not advisable to drive at night, do not do it.
- CHIAPAS ROAD ASSAULTS: there are local checkpoints organized. It is a common form of protest in this state, where they ask drivers for money for their cause, at other times they cut the road and you have to detour. Occasional assaults are reported, tourist services immediately act.
GAS STATIONS IN CHIAPAS, MEXICO
Petrol is supplied by PEMEX, the national company. There's a lot gas stations In all the territory, you will not have problems to refuel. If you go to remote places such as archaeological sites, caves or any point that you should use dirt roads, go with the full tank. You should know that in many towns of Chiapas they sell gas in people's homes in case they have to get out of a hurry, you know.
In rural areas of India, families in charge of a blind minor frequently isolate and deprive him/her of the care and attention they provide to their other children; such situation becomes even more severe among lower-caste families, orphans and if the blind child is a girl. gas stations there are services free and often a grocery store. The staff offers to clean the windshield, check the tires and the oil level. You give a few tips for the service. The driver does not get out of the car.
It can be paid in cash or with a card. If you carry better cash, they explained to me that at some gas stations they cloned cards. If you want to know the price of gasoline in Mexico, click here
PARKING IN CITIES IN CHIAPAS
Large cities have private parking lots for cars, where they are more protected than on the street. Many hotels offer private parking, as do restaurants.
If there is a yellow or red line painted on the curb, you CANNOT park on the street.

Hello, in a week we have to drive the road that goes from Chetumal to Palenque. I wanted to ask you if it's dangerous ...? I am somewhat worried because we will go with our three children in the car. Of course we will drive during the day, but even then, there is danger?
thank you so much,
Sonia
Hi Sonia, I understand from my experience that it is not a dangerous road where events are reported. Personally I have covered it several times without any problem. As you say, leave early and never drive at night.
Have an excellent trip, enjoy a lot 🙂
Hello Sandra, I want to take a trip to Cascada de agua azul from Cancun.
The itinerary would be to go through Mérida and from there the toll road to Palenque, and from there go to the blue water waterfalls. I would like to know if the section from Palenque to Agua Azul is dangerous and how recommendable is it?
Hello Nestor, there are no reports lately of anything remarkable, but that area can be conflictive as you know. The usual thing is that the ejidatarios ask you for money to enter Agua Azul, you pay and continue.
Take a good look at the roads that with the last rains in Chiapas are ugly. With this I do not want to discourage you, just prudence?
Good trip,
Hi, congratulations on your page.
I plan to travel with my girlfriend within a couple of days to different points of CHIAPAS during 5 or 6 days.
We travel on our own (we do not hire tours).
I would like to ask you if it is advisable to consider the town of OCOSINGO with a central point to go to PALENQUE, MISOL-HA, BONAMPAK, LAGUNAS DE MONTEBELLO, COMITAN AND CASCADAS EL CHIFLON, and return to rest at this same point.
We intend to move in public transport and stay in any hostel or budget hotel.
THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND NEW CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR PAGE (of the best and most useful that exist as a travel guide).
Hello Oswaldo, I'm glad that my experience in the area is useful for you?
Ocosingo is not the ideal base for the destinations you say, you will spend all day by bus, there is no point. From what you say, I would make more route and go around the whole than not a base. Sino San Cristobal for a few days and Palenque the rest of days to get to Yaxchilan and Bonampak.
If there are doubts, we continue. Enjoy the trip very much. Oh, from Ocosingo you go to Laguna Miramar, it's a remote place, but cool, in case you want to look for it (in my blog I do not have it written).
Good way,
Hello! I will travel with a friend in a rented car from San Cristóbal to Montebello lagoons, is that road safe?
Hello Lizet, this road is safe, but do not drive at night. Where they are taking assaults on the road from San Cristobal to Palenque, at the height of Agua Azul (there yes I do not recommend you go).
Good trip,
Hello I am going from Jalisco to Tabasco I want to visit Palenque and some destinations that three days in Chiapas that you recommend I go in my own vehicle
Hello Lupita, with only three days and wanting to go to Palenque, I would take advantage of the Yaxchilán, Bonampak and the Lacandon jungle. They would surely recommend San Cristóbal, but to my liking it is too many kilometers. I prefer to enjoy the places in a quieter way, and that area has a lot to see in itself.
Greetings and good trip.
Hello Sandra
I wanted to make a long circular trip, by car, from CDMX passing through the states of Oaxaca, Chiapas, Yucatán, Campeche, Veracruz, Puebla and back to CDMX. Where can I find updated information on these routes and incidents?
Hi Isabel, we only deal with the Yucatan Peninsula and Chiapas. The information is up to date, the other states cannot help you.
I hope it helps you, good way
Excellent information. My wife and I went 11 years ago to Chiapas and we visited San Cristóbal and Palenque in rented car. We are left wanting to go to Bonampak, our intention is to go back to San Cristóbal and with our daughter of 9 years and now go to Bonampak or Yaxchilán, again in rented car, do you think it is dangerous?
Hello Antonio, how about travelers? For a few months they have returned the assaults to the height of Agua Azul is the hot spot, between San Cristobal and Palenque. The tourist groups usually reach deals and tourism is not affected. In the case of renting a car, I would avoid this road. You can take the one that goes via Villahermosa, more kilometers but more or less same time and very safe. From Palenque to Yaxchilán and Bonampak there is no problem. But for the southern border, which is also a road with several controls and becomes somewhat heavy (you should do it at some better stage): https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/de-palenque-a-comitan-por-la-fronteriza/
If there are doubts left in the inkwell, you tell me.
Good way,
Good day, I will travel to Chiapas the following week. From what I have seen it is unsafe the road from San Cristobal to Palenque, I am about to cancel my stay in Palenque, I travel in a rented car with my parents and my little niece. Am I correct in canceling Palenque? Your advice will be of great help to me. Thank you…
Hello Héctor, in recent months there have been assaults at the height of Agua Azul. You can take the road via Villahermosa from San Cristóbal to Palenque. You will see that the route is longer in kilometers, but not by time, in fact it almost takes the same. If you cancel Palenque and see other places in Chiapas from San Cristóbal, there are options for Palenque.
I hope you serve the information, you have a good trip.
Hello, I plan to travel in a few days to San Cristobal by car from Yucatan, which is the safest route to travel through Villahermosa to San Cristobal?
Hi Miguel, that's right, the safest and with the best roads is to go through Mérida-Campeche-Villahermosa-San Cristóbal.
Have a great trip, regards.
Hello, thank you for your valuable advice. I want to go from San Cristobal to Cascada El Chifon and Lagunas de Montebello on the same day. Do you think it is safe to do it in a rented car, I travel with my wife and two children. If so, how late at night could I be driving to San Cristobal safely? Cheers
Hello Juan, sorry for the delay, I still replied to the email you sent today.
This route occupies you almost a whole day, you must leave San Cristóbal at 7 in the morning to go quietly. Never drive at night, always arrive in daylight. Surely it will be better for you for comfort and safety not to rent a car and take a tour.
I'm writing you an email Juan.
Regards,
Hello! Great your post I consult you about traveling by car from Cancun to Chiapas. With stops clearly.
I'm going with two children. It is safe? Thank you. regards
Hi Yamila, it's a usual tourist route, yes. Avoid in Chiapas the road from Palenque to San Cristobal de las Casas that goes through Agua Azul and Toniná, there are reported assaults. And of course the advice of any road trip follows.
Have a great time, good way 🙂
Hello Sandra, I will be traveling soon from the CD. From Mexico to Tuxtla by road, you consider that the section of the Choapas to Tuxtla is safe or there is some care
Hello Jose Antonio, I have a friend in Chiapas, San Cristóbal de las Casas, who travels to CDMX and he makes the trip to Veracruz, without incident, better than in Oaxaca. The obvious precautions of not driving at night.
Have an excellent trip, best regards.
Hello, we want to visit Chiapas in the near future, we start from the CDMX, I use your support to make a reasonable itinerary ... I do not want to waste a lot of time in returning from one destination to another, so I would like you to advise me what would be the first place of arrival and then depart to another and so on. Our budget is not very high, I would also like lodging tips ...
Thank you
Hello Pamela, if you travel by plane from CDMX with no excessive budget, a very good option is to stay in San Cristobal de las Casas and from there you do the excursions in the area. I link you with information that can help you plan: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/tours-chiapas-desde-san-cristobal-de-las-casas/amp/
Any doubt you tell me and I see how I support you with something more information that you can tell me. Oh, in San Cristóbal there is a great variety of accommodation, of all types.
Best regards
Good morning Sandra! In two weeks I will go with 3 friends to Chiapas and we will rent a car on our part. We want to visit San Cristobal de las Casas, Palenque, Yaxchilan, Bonampak. Which route is the one that you would recommend me to avoid an assault?
Hello Juan Carlos, a great apology for the delay, I went on vacation and disconnected completely.
The stretch from Palenque to San Cristóbal takes place assaults, it is not advisable to go by rental car there. In the area of Agua Azul to Tonina, it is the hottest zone of assaults. You can go to the southern border, it's an option. The tourist groups pay "their bite" without the tourist is aware, is an area that works well for a long time. I hope there will be time with the answer.
Best regards,
Hello! My family and I will arrive in Chiapas in mid-January, our flight arrives at the 10 of the night at Albino Corzo airport and we plan to rent a car to get to spend the night in Tuxtla, any recommendations? Thank you!
Hello Fernanda, sorry for the delay in answering, I was on vacation.
I do not know if I understood you or what recommendation you refer. Regarding the car in your case and arriving at that time, I would rent the car before arriving at the airport directly with a company that is already waiting for you at the airport to make it easier. From the airport you can drive to Tuxla without problem, it is very close.
Best regards,
Hello, I have plans to go on vacation to Chiapas and rent a car. I would like to know how viable it would be to visit the lagoons of Montebelo, blue water, Palenque or would it be better to take a tour?
Hi Dalia, the truth is that Chiapas, at least that area where you plan to move, is very well organized to do it with tours, without having to rent a car. The road from San Cristóbal to Palenque is not advisable to go by rental car due to assaults. I link you an article that can help you with this topic: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/tours-chiapas-desde-san-cristobal-de-las-casas/
Any questions you have here you find us to try to support you.
Regards,
Hello Sandra, first of all I want to congratulate you for your blog, it contains very good information for travelers, I followed a couple of tips to visit in the Riviera Maya that were great.
This time it's time to get to know Chiapas during the Easter holidays, I go with my wife and two small daughters, we have 9 days but in reality they are 8 full days to know a little about the state. The original idea is to rent a car in Tuxtla and go at our pace, you will know how convenient it is to do it during those dates? Would it be convenient to avoid some places? My main concern is security, and I would prefer to visit less crowded places during holy days.
Thank you very much, greetings.
Hello Jonathan, I am glad you are useful to plan, thanks for the comment.
As you well know at Easter we went out for a walk, that's the way it is. In Chiapas they go a lot towards the coast, beach places like Puerto Arista, Boca del Cielo and so you could avoid those days. Archaeological areas such as Palenque, Yaxchilán or Bonampak are not as different from other times of the year as they are not so much places to vacation. The area of Montebello, lagoons of Colón, Cuchumaltik are places of nature not so visited and interesting.
The Agua Azul area is sometimes somewhat complicated to go by rental car, because encounters occur and there is an assault. Earlier this year I warned that there were some incidents, right now I do not know. I'm going to try to find out and I'm telling you to go more calmly there. Oh, when you have your route armed, try to book the accommodation before arriving at the places, because these are dates.
I send you a greeting.
Hello Sandra! The information you share is very interesting. An Amiga, another friend with daughter and mother and I will go with this itinerary at the end of July (we are still reviewing).

We had thought to rent a car. It would be a bad idea? (As for security) or what can you suggest? Maybe a change to the itinerary (Places)? Or definitely not rent anything? I have heard some comments about the area from Ocosingo to Palenque.
Hello Mario, I am glad that you are useful to plan our website. Honestly, it is not very recommendable to rent parts of the route, such as from San Cristóbal to Palenque, as assaults occur and rental cars are more vulnerable. There are other itineraries like renting a car to Palenque through Villahermosa, it's longer but not much longer on the road, as an option to contemplate. The other is the road that runs parallel to the border with Guatemala from San Cristóbal to Palenque, it is somewhat tedious in stops, seals and curves. I leave you the information of this section: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/de-palenque-a-comitan-por-la-fronteriza/
Another option is to make the route with a carrier, maybe it is an option that you had not contemplated: it is not so expensive, you travel calm and safe, and we optimize the itinerary so that you do not turn around so much and visit the highlights according to your tastes, and improved thanks to our experience. If you are interested in that I quote you this option you can write to me sandra@elcaminomascorto.es I should know the number of days, arrival and departure to Tuxla airport and number of people (if I did not misunderstand you are 5 people, right?
I hope you find the information useful. Best regards.
Hello Sandra!
My husband has traveled several times for work in Chiapas and he is taking me for a walk with our children but I am really nervous about the road, my itinerary is tuxtla-comitan, comitan-lakes montebello, lakes montebello-sancristobal, sancristobal-rios aguazul, rios de aguazul-palenque, we leave on Saturday 13 in April and we already have paid lodging, like the route, what advice do you give me, regards
Hi Cindy, in addition to the usual tips such as never driving at night and what is mentioned in the article, I have no advice to add. If your husband usually travels to Chiapas, he knows the roads well and the itinerary is quiet. The conflicting section is in Agua Azul, where communities often ask for money to enter there, sometimes in an ugly way if one confronts them. Travel quiet Cindy and enjoy your family holidays.
Best regards,
Hello good afternoon, I like your blog, I have plans to go to Chiapas but on November dates from 9 to 17. With my husband and my daughter from 9 years. But I have doubts since I do not know what suits me more if I buy a package or rent a car to move to my liking.
What do you recommend for me that has not been so expensive and safe ...
Hi, Erica, sorry for the delay. I'm not sure, surely a package in a group can be cheaper. Above all I see it as a very different trip, to go on your own or to take you as a group. It goes according to tastes and possibilities because in this case for Chiapas you can travel in economic plan by free or in package. Another option, I do not know the days that you are going or your plan, is to do tours from San Cristóbal and to know the area with the day trips. I give you information about it: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/tours-chiapas-desde-san-cristobal-de-las-casas/
If you need help in your options you can write us and we support you with any doubts.
Best regards,
How about Sandra from Tijuana traveled Tuxtla Gutierrez arriving at approximately 4: 30 pm. What can be done from that time since I see that many attractions such as the sink already close, next day I would go to San Cristobal as a midpoint for my remaining days. As soon as transportation I was very convinced to rent a car to build my own itinerary but I have read your blog and apparently blue water (tourist point that interests me) suffers from assaults, does this still continue for these dates?
regards
Hi Ivan, once at the airport you can take the rental car and you can stop at the Sumidero viewpoints (there are some 5 and you see them on the road) to Chiapa de Corzo and sleep there. Better than Tuxla because it is a much larger city and difficult to manage. So the next day you can make the excursion through the canyon and continue on the way to Sancris. Regarding the assaults he has been calm this season. There is a reality in Chiapas and that the ejidatarios, for going through their lands, ask you for money when you go by car. Sometimes not in the best way, because it has reported us people who have scared them (although we are assaulted, they do present themselves in an intimidating way). Personally, nothing has ever happened to me, and if there is payment, payment and I continue on my way. It depends a lot on one too.
We set up rental car routes with good prices, in case you are interested. I hope it serves you, if you need anything else here find me and try to support you.
Good way Ivan,
You could contact me, I'm interested in renting a car and the route.
Good morning Ivan, right now I communicate by mail, thanks.
Hello Sandra, what an excellent blog, we go to Chiapas the day after tomorrow by road from Mexico City, I would like your recommendations since we want to get to Palenque and from there start a tour to bonanpack, blue water, San Cristobal and San Cristobal to the nearby tourist places , I have read that the road from Palenque to San Cristóbal is very dangerous and there are assaults, follow this suggestion, what recommendations do you give us to have a safe trip and to know the beauty of Chiapas, I travel with my husband, my parents and my little sister and I wouldn't want a bad experience
Hello Bere, I am glad that the blog serves you? The situation is calm, so you can go easy. Surely you will find locals who stop you for paying the right of way, both in Agua Azul and in Frontera Corozal (where the boats leave for Yaxchilan). You pay and follow the path, no problem. I wish you a lot to enjoy beautiful Chiapas and the trip. Any questions here I am, good way?
We just made a route of 5 days through Chiapas and we had no problem. We have made the route leaving from Tuxtla airport to Chiapas de Corzo, San Cristóbal, blue water waterfalls and Misol Ha, Palenque, Yaxchilan, Bonampak, Las Nubes, Montebello lagoons, Chiflón waterfalls and return to Tuxtla airport.
The roads are bad and with many stops and the distances are long, but with patience it is done well.
We just have not found some children who put a rope on the road to buy something or give them some weight. With about 10 weights you pass and follow the route.
In some villages they charge to enter as in Frontera Corozal or in Zinacatan.
Thank you very much Sandra for your advice!
Thank you very much Joel for your report, insurance helps other travelers to decide to travel by car in this area, your testimony is very valuable. the truth is that the roads are very heavy, and with rainy and windy weather it is much slower, but to compensate for the landscape it is beautiful 🙂
Glad your good trip, best regards.
Hello, sorry I travel from Mexico City to Palenque and then I go to Ciudad del Carmen, my question is the stretch of Palenque to Ciudad del Carmen is it safe? Since I travel with my family. Cheers
Hi Enrique, I don't know especially that stretch of road. I've done it without problem on occasion and I don't have reports of assaults, but I can't be more precise. Have a good trip, always travel by day.
Hello, I wanted to know if the highway to blue water is still dangerous or not and how is the route to colon lakes ??? Beforehand thank you very much
Hello Javier, it is a troubled point Agua Azul, where the ejidatarios will surely stop you to get money. Nothing has to happen to you, but there is that drawback. Never go late, always early.
I can't speak to you personally from Lagos de Colón, I owe you that one. I have also not heard that he has problems with the guides of the area that I know. Even Chiflón, Comitán and Montebello lagoons are not a problem.
Sorry for the delay, I was without internet.
Good way.
Hi!
In mid-May we will be going to Chiapas, we plan to go to Palenque via Villahermosa, we also want to go to the blue water waterfalls, my question is, are there still problems with the ejidatarios? the doubt is for the robberies on the road.
Hello Abel, the area has its complications and it continues like this, especially sometimes with checkpoints. What I recommend is that if you are going to visit it, go early, that it is not a day that you have to take a plane or something like that. More than robberies from road stops right now.
Any doubt you tell me.
Greetings and enjoy Chiapas a lot.
Good morning… .. we plan to rent a car to visit Tuxtla for 2 days and go to Palenque to visit Misol-Ha waterfalls and Blue Water ruins and from there go to San Cristobal… how safe is it to drive on the road in these times? Let's go in october
Hello Alilcat, this question always gets complicated for me, because even though nothing has to happen, that area sometimes has its complications, especially the Agua Azul and Ocosingo areas. There are no reports lately that I know: travel very early and never be on the road at night.
Have a good trip, enjoy a lot
Hello Sandra, thank you for your experiences.
I am thinking of making a trip from Tapachula to Ciudad del Carmen, and then arriving in Cancun. A 7.26-hour road appears to me, passing through the Cardenas highway, bad passes, I go with my family. I am from Guatemala, I go with my car with Guatemalan plates, could you help me with recommendations. Thanks
Hi Edgar, sorry for the delay. I'm sorry that I can't help you much on the Tapachula route because I only know the Tapachula-Arriaga-Tuxla highway. That road is good, but from here on I don't know.
Have a good trip, best regards.
Hello Sandra.
My name is Javier and I will be visiting Chiapas from May 20 to 30.
I will be traveling alone and I will rent a car for these days, I have the concern of how is the road from the Angel Albino airport to Tapachula.
I'm just putting together my tour but most of the time I want to spend at the border.
Can you help me with recommendations for tours in the jungle or emblematic spaces of Chiapas?
greetings and thanks.
Hi Javier, the road between the airport and Tapachula is a correct road, we had no incidents or anything to comment on it. Along that Pacific coast is El Castaño and Madresal, two places of nature that we loved. We also liked the area of the coffee plantations a lot, and Izapa too. You can read about these places on the blog, it is the information we have on that coast, I hope it helps you.
If you move to other places just tell me and I'll help you. I leave you a more complete article about Chiapas: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/viajar-a-chiapas-mexico/
very good trip
