Cenote Dzonotoch is one of the small local treasures that we can enjoy on the road between Tizimín and Mérida, two of the most important towns in Yucatán. Cooling in fresh water is always a success.

Mérida and Tizimín are perfectly connected by a wide and good road, in about two hours you travel the distance of 167 kilometers that separates them. On this road you have several detours, such as Izamal or Espita, two of the most beautiful towns in Yucatan.

What others Yucatan cenotes are you in the Tizimín-Valladolid area?

There are always interesting detours on the roads, I love following signs that I don't know where they will lead me. On this adventure I was going with my dear friend Unzeta, one of those few people with whom you simply draw, so any stop along the way was a sure success. We were heading towards Izamal when we took the detour following a stone painted white with black letters that indicates "Cenote 700 meters." Curiosity led us to the Dzonotoch cenote, known in Spanish as El Zorro.

Another attraction of this cenote is the horseback riding they offer. A small return for 10 pesos for the children to make their day more special. We are in a ranch area, what less than playing at being a cowboy for a day.

I found it a well-prepared place to have a family meal in a natural setting. It is not very big, but the facilities do the job. Oh and allow camping, another point in his favor.
