CHARACTERISTICS OF CENOTE YAAL UTZIL

Cenote Yaal Utzil is a beautiful open cenote where the roots of the trees come down to drink water. The view from the water is wonderful, to entertain you for hours.

A 12 meter long stairs lead you to the refreshing crystal clear water, a pleasure to bathe here. According to the data sheet for the Yaal Utzil cenote in Seduma, the water mirror «measures 25 meters long by 39 meters wide and has a maximum depth of 49 meters. Some vessels and feline bones (possibly jaguar) have been found inside. »

Near the stairs is the rope where you can hold on if you can't swim, something usual among the local population. The most intrepid will be able to launch themselves from the platform of about 3 meters into the crystal clear waters.

The most fanciers are launched from the mouth of the cenote, in these Yucatecan lands I have seen great divers, something that I like to observe. There is always something to entertain in the cenotes, sometimes we humans are part of the show.

The best time to visit the Yaal Utzil cenote is in the hours of the zenith of the sun, when the rays fall vertically on the water.
