As far as I know, this is common when renting a car, here and in other countries.
There are many national and international car rental companies, you can find them at airports, in the main cities or on the internet. Car rental companies usually facilitate the delivery in hotels, something very comfortable for the tourist. I recommend you book your car online months before, especially if you travel in peak times such as Christmas, Easter or summer. They tend to increase prices as the date approaches, just as it happens with airline tickets. You do not need an 4 × 4 to travel the Peninsula, the roads are good and safe. Hi, I'm going to visit Tulum in March, and I was thinking of renting a car. Do you have any agency to advise me?
Is that the blog does not appear the name you recommend.
Regards,
Hello Ariel, thanks for warning, you are absolutely right.
For price I did it through the internet with American Car Rental, I also use Mex Rent a Car a lot, for being a Mexican company. You can search them directly on their website or in a general search engine. If the trip is in Holy Week, rent it with Ariel time.
Best regards,
Hello, how are you? I would be going to February and around 16 hs to Playa del Carmen with a rental car. Do you have a quick place to visit that afternoon and go by car? Not to miss a day without going on an excursion ... but we would go straight to the beach. Thank you very much for your contributions
Hi Ezequiel, good time February 🙂 Before Playa you have Maroma beach, it is beautiful. They make pay for access, there are two of the coolest all-inclusive luxury hotels. You can also go around Puerto Morelos, and I would tell you to stop at a cenote in Puerto Morelos, but the time between arrival and car pick-up is just. I leave the reference articles in case you fit the time. Maroma Beach: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/mejores-playas-riviera-maya-2/ Cenotes Puerto Morelos (Lucero Verde is nearby): https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/la-ruta-de-los-cenotes-de-puerto-morelos-leona-vicario/
Any questions I try to support you. Good trip.
Hello Sandra!
We are going from May 12 to 19 at the Bahia Principe Gran Tulum hotel on an all-inclusive basis due to an offer we found. We have transfers from the airport included but we doubt whether to rent a car from the airport itself so as not to lose so much time in the transfer or if on the contrary to rent it in Playa del Carmen or in an agency that brings it closer to the hotel. We have looked at the hotel itself (they have Europcar) but the prices are very high and the comments are not very good.
We are a sea of doubts. What do you advise us? We want to visit Chichen Itza on our own, cenotes, Tulum...
Any suggestion will be welcome! Thank you very much in advance!
Hi Tami. For us, it is a very good option to rent a car in the Riviera Maya, as it is calm and safe to drive, even though you can always have some inconvenience. If your spirit of travel is to go at your own pace and pace, it is the most advisable. If you have the transfers, it may be better that they take the car to the hotel with the company you want, it is a service that they usually provide at no extra cost.
I leave you an article about Chichen so you can see ideas on how to get around: https://www.elcaminomascorto.es/chichen-itza-maravilla-ir-yucatan/
About the car rental companies, you will see that almost all of them have negative comments, hardly any of them are free. If you have rented a car in other countries it is the same. Take a good look at all risk insurance preferably, not deductible as they usually do.
Have a great time here, will you tell about the experience?
